Following its recent conversion by Boeing at Seattle (Renton) to a Boeing 707-138B 'fan-jet engined' airliner, the Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138B VH-EBA 'City of Melbourne' was rolled out at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) in the airline's new 'V-Jet' livery.

The Ansett Australia Boeing 747-312 VH-INH operated its final revenue service, operating Flight AN887 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Hong Kong (Kai Tak). It was then returned to its owners, Singapore Airlines.

The ex Australian air Express / National Jet Express Boeing 727-277AF VH-VLF, now registered as N982JM, departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its ferry flight to the United States (Mojave) for storage.

On This Day - September 16, 2009.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 737-838 VH-VZF 'Jean Batten', now registered as ZK-ZQA, was ferried Melbourne (Tullamarine) - Auckland as Flight QF6021 for operation by Qantas Jetconnect. On arrival at Auckland the aircraft was officially named 'Jean Batten' at the welcoming ceremony.

On This Day - September 16, 2009.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 767-338ER VH-OGD departed Sydney (Kingsford Smith) for the last time, on its ferry flight to the United States (Victorville) as Flight QF6019, for long-term storage. It was acquired by Air Transport Services Group on April 22, 2010 and converted to an 'all-freight' configuration.

The Virgin Australia Airlines Airbus A330-243 VH-XFB 'Cable Beach' departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on the ferry flight to Singapore (Changi) as Flight VA9941, for end-of-lease maintenance and return to the lessor.
