On This Day - December 13, 1947.

The Australian National Airways Douglas DC-3-232A VH-ABR 'Kanana' was badly damaged whilst taking-off at Mildura Airport, Victoria, when an engine failed and the undercarriage collapsed. It was repaired and returned to service. This was its third major accident.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 747-238B VH-EBQ 'City of Bunbury' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its delivery flight from the United States. It was also operating its first revenue service as Flight QF4 from San Francisco to Sydney. It was the airline's 53rd Boeing airliner and its 19th Boeing 747.
