On This Day - December 10, 1945.

The United States Army Air Force Douglas C-47A-50-DL '42-24220', having been deemed to be 'surplus-to-requirements' was sold to Australian National Airways (A.N.A.), having flown only 3,014 hours. It was registered as VH-ANV on December 17, and work commenced to bring the aircraft up to 'civilian' airliner standards, which was completed by June 16, 1946.

On This Day - December 10, 1954.

The Qantas Empire Airways Short S-25 Sandringham Mk 4 'Tasman Class' flying boat VH-EBX 'Pacific Chieftain' was sold to Ansett Flying Boat Services to replace their Short S-25 Sandringham flying boat VH-BRD 'Princess of Cairns' that had sunk whilst moored overnight on the Brisbane River on October 31, 1952. It was reregistered as VH-BRE on December 22.
