On This Day - May 14, 1970.

The Ansett Douglas DC-9-31 VH-CZG was involved in an attempted hijacking at Sydney (Kingsford Smith). A young male passenger entered the cockpit armed with a toy gun and demanded that the aircraft depart immediately. He left the aircraft some 30 minutes later before being arrested and charged.

The Talair de Havilland Canada DHC-8-102A P2-GVB, having been transferred to Flight West Airlines, was ferried from New Guinea (Port Moresby) to Brisbane. It was reregistered as VH-XFU before it entered service with Flight West.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 727-277LR VH-ANB was sold to Intrepid Aviation, and departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its ferry flight to the United States where it was converted to an 'all-freight' configuration by COPESA in Costa Rica.
