The Qantas Empire Airways Short S.23C 'Empire' Class flying boat VH-ABF 'Cooee' arrived at Brisbane, having completed its delivery flight from the United Kingdom (Southampton). It was the 2nd Short S.23 flying boat to be delivered to Qantas.

The Qantas Airways Lockheed 1049C Constellation VH-EAG 'Southern Constellation' operated the airline's inaugural 'Lockheed 1049' service from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Tokyo (Japan) via Manila (Philippines).

The Qantas Airways Lockheed 1049C Constellation VH-EAG 'Southern Constellation' was withdrawn from service at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having flown 21,844 hours. It was then sold to Boeing / Airmotive Inc for parts.

The Dick Lang Douglas C-47A-20-DL VH-PWN, having been sold to Pionair Adventures Ltd, New Zealand the previous month, arrived at Auckland (New Zealand) having completed its delivery flight from Adelaide (West Beach). It was reregistered as ZK-AMS before it entered service.
