The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-338C VH-EBT 'City of Bendigo' was the first airliner to operate the airline's first scheduled service into the new Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport from Sydney (Kingsford Smith). Later that day it operated the first scheduled service to depart from Melbourne (Tullamarine) to the United States, operating Flight QF530 to San Francisco.

The Australian Government announced its intention to acquire converted Airbus A330 aircraft for use by the Royal Australia Air Force as 'KC-30A MRTT' - Multi-Role-Tanker-Transports. The Qantas Airways' Airbus A330-202 VH-EBI was identified as being a candidate for this requirement.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 787-9 VH-ZNE 'Skippy' arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle / Boeing Field) as Flight QF6025. It was the airline's 265th Boeing airliner, and its 16th B-787.
