On This Day - January 16, 1980.

Debbie Wardley, then aged 26, was rostered to crew an Ansstt Airlines Fokker F.27 Friendship from Alice Springs. She became Australia's first female commercial airline pilot in an otherwise very 'male oriented' industry. It was a belief at that point in time, that male pilots were much 'safer' than female pilots in commercial airline flying.

 

On This Day - January 16, 2004.

The QantasLink Bombardier DHC-8-315Q C-GZDO arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its delivery flight from Canada (Toronto / Downsview). It was reregistered as VH-TQD before it entered service.

The Tiger Airways Australia Airbus A320-232 VH-VNK arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having completed its ferry flight from Singapore (Seletar).
