On This Day - December 29, 1974.

The Trans-Australia Airlines Boeing 727-276A VH-TBG 'Charles Sturt' operated two emergency 'Cyclone Tracy' evacuation flights from Darwin. Both flights were flown from Darwin to Adelaide (West Beach). On its first flight it carried 297 passengers, while 175 passengers were carried on its second flight. Another flight was flown the next day from Alice Springs, uplifting 235 passengers.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-338C VH-EBT 'City of Bendigo' operated a Cyclone Tracey relief flight, uplifting 246 passengers from Darwin.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-338C VH-EAD 'City of Ballarat' operated the airline's final Boeing 707 service to South Africa, operating Flight QF641 / 870 Sydney (Kingsford Smith) - Johanessburg - Sydney (Kingsford Smith).
