On This Day - December 03, 1945. The Australian National Airways Douglas C-47-DL '42-32879' departed Manila (Philippines) on its ferry flight to Brisbane (Australia). It had been acquired by the airline after the United States Navy deemed it to be 'surplus to requirements'. On arrival at Brisbane work commenced to convert it to 'civilian' standards before it was registered as VH-ANJ on May 22, 1946. |
