The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138B VH-EBH 'City of Darwin' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle). It was also operating its first passenger service, as it entered service operating San Francisco to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It established a record for the Honolulu - Sydney sector of this flight of 9 hours 40 minutes. It was the airline's 8th Boeing airliner.

The Juliet Flying Boats Inc Short S.25 Sunderland Mk 5 G-BJHS 'Sir Arthur Gouge' landed on the River Thames, London and was moored near the Tower Bridge. This was the ex Ansett Flying Boat Services VH-BRF 'Islander'.
