The TEAL Short S-25 Sandringham Mk 4 'Tasman Class' flying boat ZK-AMD was sold to Qantas Empire Airways Limited. It was reregistered as VH-EBX on April 24 and renamed 'Pacific Chieftain'.

On This Day - April 13, 1961.

The first Boeing 707-138B undertook its maiden test-flight from the Boeing plant at Seattle (United States). This aircraft, N93134 was the first of the improved Boeing 707-138 model, powered by the new Pratt & Whitney 'fan' jet engines. Boeing built only 6 of these aircraft - just for Qantas Airways, the only world airline that acquired this variant new from the manufacturer.

On This Day - April 13, 1971.

The Fokker F28-1018 Fellowship VH-FKD operated its last revenue service for Ansett Airlines of New South Wales as Flight WX1086 from Wagga Wagga to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It was withdrawn from service due to a severe drop in regional passenger numbers. It then departed Sydney later that day on its ferry flight to Western Australia (Perth), where it commenced services with M.M.A.

On This Day - April 13, 1994.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 747-338 VH-EBY was leased to Garuda Indonesian Airlines to operate a series of 'hadj' flights. It was ferried Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Jakarta (Indonesia) as Flight QF8532 in the basic Japan Airlines livery with 'Garuda' titles and tail logo.

The Air New Zealand Boeing 767-319ER ZK-NCN entered service, operating Flight NZ181 from Christchurch (New Zealand) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith).

The Qantas Airways Boeing 737-838 VH-VXF 'Sunshine Coast' arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle / Boeing Field) as Flight QF6020. It was the airline's 123rd Boeing airliner and its 9th Boeing 737.

On This Day - April 13, 2018.

The Network Aviation / QantasLink Airbus A320-232 VH-VQU arrived at Perth, having completed its ferry flight from Singapore (Seletar) where it had been repainted from the standard 'Jetstar' livery into the Qantas 'Silver Roo' livery. It was the 2nd Airbus A320 to be repainted.
