Construction completed at the Douglas Oklahoma City plant - June 1944 Built as a Douglas C-47A-25-DK Allocated U.S. serial number 42-93666 Delivered to the U.S.A.A.F. - June 14, 1944 Delivered to Pacific Air Transport Command, Manila - June 22, 1944 Withdrawn from use and struck-off charge - April 15, 1946 Sold to Butler Air Transport by U.S. Foreign Disposals Commission at Tacloban, Philippines - April 18, 1946 Ferried from Clarke Field, Manila to Australia Entered onto the Australian Aircraft Register as VH-AOH (CofR 999) - July 8, 1946 Registered to Butler Air Transport Pty Ltd Aircraft named 'RMA Warrumbungle' This aircraft never entered service as it was destroyed on landing at Schofields Airfield - June 3, 1947 Aircraft was engaged in acceptance / pilot training flights at the time It overshot the runway and crashed into trees whilst practicing take-offs and landings Was destroyed when fire broke out in the crumpled remains but flight crew escaped unharmed Flight crew: Capt T.R. Young; F/O A.H. Innes Some salvageable parts were used in the conversion of second DC-3 VH-AOH Cancelled from the Australian Aircraft Register - June 3, 1947 |
